Any firm that would like to be competitive in today's A/E market had better be equipped with the most up-to-date technology available. Shanks Associates uses state-of-the-art hardware and software in the field and office. Field data is automatically collected via hand-held field computers for on-site computations and download directly to our office computer system. Our site plans, plats, etc. are produced directly in our CAD system and can be delivered to the client in digital or hard-copy format. Digital design data is uploaded to the field crews' computers for stakeout.
Above and beyond the hardware and software however, we believe that people have ultimate control over the final product. This is where professional knowledge, experience and judgement make the greatest contribution to the success of a project. Our staff's experience with real-world projects and situations allow us to maximize the benefits of the technology available and to use it to it's greatest potential.

In the not too distant past, a person wishing to develope property would have to be able to understand the graphic language of site plans, topographic maps, etc. Now, thanks to intergrated CAD, 3D rendering and graphics software, the client is able to visually explore the proposed plan before ground is broken.
